A turn-based dungeon roguelike where every monster shows its next move
Cipher Depths is a turn-based card roguelike by Rui Codex for Android. You pick one of three heroes, build a deck and descend through 25 procedurally generated floors split into five strata, each ending in a boss. It is free to play with ads on menu screens and optional in-app purchases, and every hero, card and relic is unlocked by playing.
Scroll sideways or use the arrow keys.
Awake monsters show their intent, and telegraphed attacks can be dodged.
Twenty-five generated floors, from lantern-lit catacombs to the heart of the Cipher.
Pick one of three cards after each floor, from 40 upgradeable cards and 24 relics.
Warden, Arcanist and Shade, each with its own deck and way to play.
Permanent upgrades, Delver Rank, Hero Mastery, the Codex and Ascension 1 to 10.
The same dungeon and rule of the day for every player, plus the weekend Echo Tide.
Everything unlocks by playing, the run saves every turn, and banners stay off the dungeon.
Every descent is a new dungeon, played one turn at a time. Tap a tile to walk and tap a monster next to you to attack; your hand of five cards spends energy, and block soaks damage until the turn ends. Every awake monster shows its intent, whether an attack and its damage, a ranged shot, a charge along a line, a blast or a summon. Walls block sight and ranged attacks, telegraphed attacks can be dodged, and you choose the target of your cards, so where you stand matters as much as what you play.
The dungeon has five strata of five floors each: lantern-lit catacombs, a drowned archive, fungal hollows, a forgotten forge and the heart of the Cipher. Each stratum brings new monsters and ends with its own boss, and from floor 3 elite monsters may appear with a relic or card upgrade as the reward. After each floor you pick one of three cards or reroll, building from 40 upgradeable cards and 24 relics, while shrines, chests and a wandering merchant shape the run further. The Warden is tough and forgiving, the Arcanist relies on ranged spells and positioning, and the Shade hits hard and leaves fast.
Echoes earned in every run buy permanent upgrades, and Delver Rank, Hero Mastery, the Codex, Ascension 1 to 10 and 18 achievements keep a next goal in view. The Daily Dive gives every player the same dungeon and a rule of the day, and the Echo Tide adds bonus echoes at weekends. The run is saved at the end of every turn, there is no account or sign-in, banners appear on menu screens only and never during a run, and the optional Delver's Pass removes ads.
Players who enjoy deckbuilders and tactical roguelikes and want readable, turn-based fights they can pause at any moment on a phone.
